I just updated avast (4.1.335) and now when I try and collect my yahoo email using pegasus, I’m informed by the server that my username is incorrect. My settings have not changed at all, but now I get this error message. When I change the username to my yahoo id (without the #127.0.0.1) after my username, I can collect my yahoo mail. However when I try to collect it later, my settings go back to (username#127.0.0.1) and hence I get the same error again, and cannot collect my mail until I manually change it again. Is this a bug with this new update ?
I’ve noticed that the new update included Peguses mail in the email wizard. You may need to reopen the wizard and include all future accounts in the settings.
I did as you suggested, opened the wizard and then manually changed the setting to my username instead of username#127.0.0.1 and was able to collect my mail as before. I then closed pegasus and then re-opened it, but this time the settings were retained I’m not sure why I no longer need the username#127.0.0.1 configuration, but it works for me now.
using pop mail from yahoo is free, and has been for as long as I can remember. All you need to do is, log into your yahoo mail account with your browser and have a look in your mail preferences (I can’t remember exactly where the setting is) and there is an option to sign up for “free” pop access. All you do need to do is to sign up for their “monthly” email called “yahoo delivers” which is basically a monthly email from yahoo’s sponsors I think. I’ve been using this pop access for awhile now, and trust me, it really is only a “monthly” email from them so I receive no spam whatsoever.
Looks like I spoke too soon, avast has changed the settings like it did before, so I have to manually change the login details again to collect my yahoo mail Looks like it maybe a bug or something.
By an amazing coincidence, I had just come back to these forums to write exactly what you have written. I searched these boards a short time ago and discovered what should have been in there, though for the life of me I can’t understand how it got changed to username#127.0.0.1 in the first place. Thanks for your response anyway My email is working fine now.
There, please enter your avast version (avast free 6.0.1367 or 7.0.1407, etc.), operating system, email program and most importantly some information about the problem and we will try to help, “Than plz FIX ther damn thing.” doesn’t give us much to work with.
