I just received an email from Avast stating the following:
NOTE: Information email only - PLEASE DO NOT REPLY
Congratulations - you have registered for your new avast! Account portal.
Now we just need you to confirm your registration by clicking the following link:
hxxps://my.avast.com/en-eu/confirm/registration?token=kUc9WeXw9WRUJrQkcTQVlvCBoaBr8ys01khwVCeqePMCH7pBKO
Thank you, and safe surfing!
The problem here is that I don’t know what the new avast! Account portal is, and it has come to an email address not registered with Avast. I don’t recall registering for this. At this point I have not clicked on the link as I’m not sure what it is. Perhaps I gave this email address when I first joined Avast but it is definitely not the one associated with my Account now. Is it legit?
I have updated to program 8.0.1482, love it, easy to navigate. While checking everything out could I have inadvertently asked for this? but still the email address remains a concern.
It is a web interface where you can monitor multiple avast installations.
When you install avast on a system you can link it to your my.avast.com account. I have my avast free installations on my XP pro, Win7 netbook and also avast mobile security on my mobile phone linked to my account.
If you happen to be away you can still log in to your my.avast.com account and monitor your system/s.
I am signed into my account, with the Avast registered email and also without confirming this email. Am I just being totally paranoid here? and should just ignore this and accept it was sent from Avast.
