I received a message from AVAST today that says the Mail Shield will now scan email even when SSL/TLS security is enabled in the mail client. The message also states that I should enable SSL/TLS in my email client and remove SSL accounts from the AVAST mail settings. After doing the above, I am getting email client errors. The error says:
The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified…
I get no errors if I turn off Mail scanning in AVAST.
No help from the link.
The only way I can get the mail client to work is to stop the Mail Shield. I am using Windows Live Mail.
Everything was working fine before I deleted the SSL Accounts from the Mail Shield settings and added the SSL to Windows Live Mail.
I did remove the email account entries, and I confirm they are gone.
I just ticked the Scan SSL connections box and tired the Live Mail again.
This time all is well. It is working.
I may have been doing something wrong, but I doubt it. The only thing I was changing was checking the Scan SSL connections and not changing anything in the Live Mail program. Maybe it is because I’m running Windows 7 on a Mac. The Mac side was getting jealous that I’m spending too much time working in Windows 7. I will never know the source of my problem.
