Email Problem After Enabling Email Client SSL

I received a message from AVAST today that says the Mail Shield will now scan email even when SSL/TLS security is enabled in the mail client. The message also states that I should enable SSL/TLS in my email client and remove SSL accounts from the AVAST mail settings. After doing the above, I am getting email client errors. The error says:

The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified…

I get no errors if I turn off Mail scanning in AVAST.

Any help would be appreciated.

Running Windows 7 and AVAST Free

does this help? http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=116604.msg904801#msg904801

No help from the link.
The only way I can get the mail client to work is to stop the Mail Shield. I am using Windows Live Mail.
Everything was working fine before I deleted the SSL Accounts from the Mail Shield settings and added the SSL to Windows Live Mail.

Hello,
what email server do you use?

I use Gmail.

I have UNchecked the Scan SSL connection box in the Mail Shield Settings. This allows Live Mail to function.

Just confirmation, did you remove any entries in the avast Mail Shield > Settings > SSL Accounts ?

If not remove those and tick the scan SSL connection box again .

I did remove the email account entries, and I confirm they are gone.

I just ticked the Scan SSL connections box and tired the Live Mail again.

This time all is well. It is working.

I may have been doing something wrong, but I doubt it. The only thing I was changing was checking the Scan SSL connections and not changing anything in the Live Mail program. Maybe it is because I’m running Windows 7 on a Mac. The Mac side was getting jealous that I’m spending too much time working in Windows 7. I will never know the source of my problem.

Thanks for your time. You get credit for the fix.

;D

You’re welcome, glad that it is now working as it should.
