At first thought, I would check to see that Avast has correctly configured you email settings within MS Outlook.

Did you run the “Mail Protection Wizard” when you installed Avast?

Go into the Start/Programs/Avast folder and click on Mail Protection Wizard. Fill in the information as requested.
You will need to know Adelphia’s POP and SMTP address cxodes such as Jenn.pop3.adelphia.net or something similar.
