I have Avast Internet Security 7 installed on my computer. About a 2 weeks ago I started having problems with my Outlook Express. Every time I tried to send or receive I’d get error messagessuch as Windows Installer Preparing To Install & Please Wait While Windows Configures Microsoft Office XP Professional. I’d click on cancel & everything would work just fine. A week ago I could no longer send any emails but could still receive. I got a hold of Earthlink & the agent there worked on my computer remotely. He found that an Avast update caused my problems so he disabled Avast from my Outlook Express. With the amount of viruses Avast was finding in my emails I immediately enabled Avast. Now I have the same ptoblem. I can receive but not send. The earthlink agent had the emails sending again just fine when Avast was disabled. Anyone else have a similar problem ?
Welcome to the forum.
You talking about “Outlook Express” and then mentioning Microsoft Office which uses Outlook.
They aren’t the same program.
A screenshot of the error messages would also help.
Oops ! a slip of the tongue. It’s Microsoft Outlook. I had Outlook Express on my old computer. How do I go about getting a screen shot of the error messages so that you can view them ? I’m not very computer savvy. I use it for emails & selling on eBay. For now I can tell you when I hit send & receive a Microsoft box pops up & says Windows Installer Preparing To Install. If I hit cancel my incoming emails start rolling in but I cannot send any emails. If I don’t hit cancel a Microsoft Office XP Professional box comes up that says: Please Wait While Windows Configures Microsoft Office XP Professional. I don’t cancel that and up comes: Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\SETUP.HLP. If I cancel all the boxes that come up I eventually get: Task ‘pop.ix.netcom.com – Sending’ reported error(0x800CCC67) : ‘Unknown Error 0x800CCC67’ & also: Task ‘pop.ix.netcom.com – Sending and Receiving’ reported error (0x800CCC67) : ‘Unknown Error 0x800CCC67’ The incoming emails still come in. The problem is only sending. Of course Earthlink is outsourcing so any issues you contact them about got to India. I had luck the last time though because as he remotely worked on my computer & sent out test emails there was no problem only because he disabled Avast. As soon as I enabled Avast, the same issue arose. I may just be repeating myself here so tell me how I can give you the information that you need from me, please. Thank you for replying to my post. I can’t always relay information very well so my posts & replies may be lacking. Thanks again !
