I have a private email in that it is provided by a domain that I own rather than by AOL or Yahoo or other public email providers.

Recently I have been receiving a rash of failure notices from various domains where someone is using my email address to send spam to various addresses. None of those addresses appear to be from my address book. Perhaps they are from someone else but in all cased the emails send by whom ever show my email address as the “from” address.

I don’t believe these emails are from within my computer as Avast scans never find any problems. But of course I am not 100% sure. Also I am concerned that some of the spam sites will start blocking my address because of these emails which look like they are from me.

Below is a couple of typical emails I get.

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail1007.opentransfer.com.
I’m afraid I wasn’t able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I’ve given up. Sorry it didn’t work out.

The spammer harvest mail adresses and the from adress can be faked…so they just pick on to use

how do you access your mail…webmail or a mail client in your computer?

These supposed failures are more likely spam that has had your email address as the from address. So it is possible that your email has been harvested in some way or someone you communicate with has an infected system and that is infected passing the email address book up to a spambot.

I have no idea if the email addresses in your post are legit or otherwise, but this is how many emails get harvested, spambots trawling publicly available sites looking for email addresses. So it isn’t wise to publish any email of obfuscate it so it isn’t so easy to harvest.

Please remove or obfuscate the email addresses in your post.

It is common to not only send spam out to these emails, but also to fake the from email address

Short answer is I never do anything other than delete these delivery failures.

you can try changing mail password…
if you use a mailclient, also check your comp for malware http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
