email shield

Avast seems to cause problems with the SMTP server of my email-provider. Adding a new mailaccount to my Outlook365 failed, until I switched off the Avast email-shield. Now the mailaccount is added, I switched the shield on again, but now no mails can be sent although I do receive new mails. How to solve this problem?

Our developers are looking into this issue. You can disable “Scan outbound emails” as a workaround.
Menu> Protection> Core Shields> Mail Shield> untick, “Scan outbound emails (SMTP)”

Same problem here using Office365:

Outgoing smtp server Port 587, STARTTLS, unchecked secure password, checked server authentification

Outgoing mails remain blocked until I pause AVAST.

sorry for having trouble with Mail Shield. Could you please try to disable “Add signature to the end of sent emails” (Menu > Settings > Protection > Core Shields > Mail Shield )?

It should help until we come up with a proper fix.

Could you please help us with the investigation by providing some data?

Please enable debug logging (Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Enable debug logging)
Reproduce the issue (connect to your email account or sync data with your email account).

the problem has a new variante:
I dont know how you call it in english: in german it is called Web-Schutz so maybe it is web-protection, it should protect against unsecure downloads.

Sometimes, not always
The process to create the error is:
I copy a file and then I upload it in Word and then I get encolsed message:

Then I undo the Web-protection and everything is fine. I Can upload the file and store it.
Then I do the web-protection again and everything is fine.

Wouldn’t it be better to issue an emergency update if the fix is known, rather than ask users to switch to a beta version ???

I did install the Beta Version and Halleluja it works.
Both the web-shield and the e-mail shield do work again, like the should.

It was a lot of work, do I get a bonus from Avast for this effort from my side? :slight_smile:

I have a second PC and there is also Avast installed, And on this PC there is the same errors.
And today there came a new version of AvAst software, but the error remained.
Shall I also install the Beta Version on the second computer??
