Email Wizard in 4.8

I installed Avast Home edition 4.8 on a Windows XP machine. Read the help file and there was section on an email wizard that is supposed to be in the Windows Start Menu entry of Avast. I do not have that. Is it supposed to be there or is only for the paid version? If it’s only for the paid version how do you make those adjustments in the free version?

It’s not necessary on Windows XP due to the transparent scanning (automatic, nothing extra is needed). It’s only for Windows 9x and Me.

It’s not needed but is it supposed to be missing form the Start Menu?

Yes, since using it in Windows 2000, XP or Vista would conflict with the default activity of the avast transparent intercept for email.

A link to the file ‘ashPopWz.exe’ in the ‘Start’ menu does not appear in avast! Home or Pro XP installations. It does in Win95 with avast! 4.8 Home (avast95_26.jpg) so it’s not a Home vs Pro issue. Like Tech said, it’s not necessary because XP doesn’t use the loopback 127.0.0.1 server redirection to scan messages like 9X (avast95_27.jpg).

Strange. ??? I wasn’t notified of alanrf’s post before posting my own. A “glitch in the matrix” perhaps?

OK thanks I guess everything is OK than with my install.

Yes it is
