When I try to log into my email I get an error message that says ERR concurrent conections limit in avast exceeded, there is a collision with another program. Anyone know why I am getting this error?
Please print the full text of the error as that will frequently say what the application is causing the collision ?
This is commonly another security application or remnants, or a news reader, etc.
Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
Thanks for your responce to my problem.
This is what the error message says:The server responded with an error. Server responce-ERR concurrant connections limit in avast exceeded(pass20,processes:ashMaiSv.exe[19],msimn exe[1]),there is a collision with another program, port 110, Secure (SSL), No Server Error0x800CCC90,Error Number 0x800CCC90.
Yes I had another virus scanner progam pop up on my screen that I thought was from Avast. When I used it I found out it was not but I could not get rid of it so I reset my computer using my restore point from a few weeks ago. When the computer reset the virus program was gone but now I have the error in my email that will not allow it to work.
Does this info help?
What was this other antivirus program that popped up ?
Did you actually install it, if not would could well have a rogue program installed ?
What avast version are you using 4.8 or 5.0 ?
System Restore is far from infallible and if you have avast 5 there is a chance that it has had a problem with the avast self-defence module.
I am running 4.8. I cannot remember the name of the other antivirus but it started with the letter A and ended with the number 7 and had a four coloured shield as it’s symbol. I didnot install it but I did use it to scan my computer.
I suspect that you had a rogue application (driveby install) on your system, did you have any supposed security alerts saying your system was infected, etc. ?
If I hadn’t installed any AV there is absolutely no way I would use it to scan as that could well be establishing an infection.
Once this is resolved I would suggest that you update your version to avast 5.0 as that has been out for 5 months now (unless you have win9.x or winME).
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it and report the findings (it should product a log file).

- MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), On-Demand only in free version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later. - 2. SUPERantispyware (SAS). On-Demand only in free version.
Don’t worry about reported tracking cookies they are a minor issue and not one of security, allow SAS to deal with them though. - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie.
Also available a portable version of SAS, http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html, no installation required.
I installed both softwares and scanned my computer with both . MBAM found five problems and SAS took care of the cookies but I still have the same error meeage on my email. The errors were , spyware online, rogue.installer, adware.agent,rogue.installer,and adware.zango.
can you post the Malwarebytes scan log ?
Here is a copy of the scan log.

My subscription to Avast expired so I downloaded the free version as a stop gap until I decided what to do to correct my email problem but it seems the problem has disappeared when my Avast 4.8 expired and has not resurfaced in the free version. Makes me wonder if I should continue with a full version Avast as my virus protection.
Well it makes me wonder too as the free and paid versions of avast treat email in the same way (4.8 and 5.0) in regard to connections though it may be that the limit of concurrent connections has been raised in avast 5.0, so that could account for why there is no problem in the avast 5.0 free version, this then should be the same in avast 5.0 Pro.
