EmClient /Nord compatibility Issue

My email Client EmClient is suddenly unable to connect to my gmail server.
I have found that Disabling the Email Shield restores the connection. It’s also the case that switching the shield back on the connection remains. However Restarting Avast completely (restart computer) and the problem is back.
I have seen a post from 2021 where Avast have said they are working on this is it fixed. I also use Nord VPN, disconnecting Nord also restores the email. Is this a compatibility issue?
