Empty folders of avast! installation

Why some folders at avast subdirectory are always empty?

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\backup
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\dllcache
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\lics
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\moved
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\push

Can we delete them?
If needed, will they be recriated after by avast providers/engine?

Well, “moved” is obviously the folder for moved files - so unless you do move an infected file there, it’s empty. Regarding the other ones - I must say I really don’t know. Some of them may be even unused in current version - but I’m sure 5 empty folders don’t use that much disk space

They are all empty in mine also, but since they don’t take up any space deleting them wouldn’t achieve anything and if they were needed and weren’t there could they cause an error and worse a crash.

Moved has to be there as the option to move infected files during a boot-time scan would fail and for those who use the push updates (yourself) should surely have some content here, unless it is deleted after the push updates?

So I would say the old “first do no harm” rule applies here.

Ok… this I knew :-[

Who makes this software? ;D ;D

As you know, it’s not a matter of space, or crash like David post, just to:

  1. Understand avast! working.
  2. Know if they will be recriated if they are deleted.

David, my push folder is always empty… Oh, I really use the push updates feature as I have the Pro version.

Yes I know that, which is why I thought it strange that the push folder would be empty for someone using push updates with the Pro version.
