I have used Avast without incident for a couple of years now. Until yesterday (3/3), that is. I received a “Important Cybersecurity News from Avast” message that discussed five ways to avoid COVID-19 scams. Fine. I exited. Then a screen pops up that says my PC is protected. Fine. However, after exiting that, in a matter of sometimes seconds, sometimes a minute or two, another “Important Cybersecurity News from Avast” message pops up and this whole process keeps repeating itself over and over again. I turned off the PC and re-booted several times. I tried a differnt browser but the Avast message keeps popping up. It’s beyond irritating because no matter what I do gets constantly interrupted and takes me back to that message. I feel like I’m being cyber-attacked by Avast. How do I get Avast to help me against Avast. I tried calling the “Help” line, was on-hold for forty minutes then it rang once and I was disconnected. I tried sending a message through the Avast app on my phone and it says “Unable to send. Please try agvast ain” and then it repeats over and over, I feel like I’m in a Black Mirror episode. And trying to talk to a human at Avast is, seemingly, impossible and customer service is non-existent. This is like a bad nightmare. In the span of tyoing this, that message has popped up over fifteen times. Can anybody help???
Repair Avast:
- Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
- Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
The four steps detailed above by Avast solved the problems. Thanks, so much, to the person who provided this. I was losing my mind:)
You’re welcome.
