I have used avast for at least a year with no trouble.

Please help me…

Hi poirim.
I’ve also had problems on some PCs with Advanced WindowsCare Personal. When it first happened did you try ‘System Restore’ back to before you installed/ran AWC?

Hello thank you for your reply.

I do not if I did a roll back right after but I will tell you what I have tried up to now.

I deleated ADVANCE WINDOWS CARE

I deleated Avast
I have reinstalled Avast and had problems updating it still
then A few hours ago I did a rool back then I had 2 Avast installations on my disk
I finally was able to remove them both and installed a brand new copy of Avast.

I do not know if this time it works cause I did not yet have a update window pupping-up

Do you know what could have caused this???
Thanks you

I use AWC with avast and no problems…
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the last version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Hello and thanks again.

I did the 7 step that you suggested and it seems to have clear the problem.

I did not get any pop-up windows from Avast when I started my computer witch is normal since I am up to date. Let’s hope that it will be OK in 4hours when it tries to check for available up dates.

If this is OK do you know what could cause this problem with ADVANCE WINDOWS CARE.

I find that software very powerfull and it does more wrights than wrongs but would not like to jeopardies my Avast???

What is the problem ‘with’ AWC?
avast ‘problem’ was solved, what’s up with AWC?

Hello and thank you for your patience

Well I am not an expert at this but my Avast was working OK.

I installed ADVANCE WINDOWS CARE.

I made it analyze my computer and it found severals problems.

I checked the problems very carfully and made the program correct only those thatI was sure off.

There is a section where the program says it can improve my TCP/IP connection and since it scared me a bit I said no

But It is after that cleanup witch help a lot that my Avast started to have the problem.

Do you think it is a coincidence or is it something that ADVANCE WINDOWS CARE.

removed???

thank you again you are a great help. For people like us who are not rookies but definitely not Geeks like you it is a relief to have these forum

TCP/IP settings, into AWC, won’t mess avast installation. It’s difficult to say if any of AWC changes messed it, there are many changes. Maybe you could post a screenshot of the system and registry proposal changes before doing anything.

To know how to post a screenshot, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0
You can use Gadwin PrintScreen to get a screenshot (http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/) or the free version of WinSnap 1.1.10 (http://www.filehippo.com/download_winsnap/?2173).

Thank you for your help.

I will probably reinstall AWC sometime in a few days ???but fore the moment I will stay like this.

I do have other software that cleans my computer very well so I will stick with them until I get the courage to try AWC again… :-\

By the way Avast is officially back to normal ;D Thank you so much for your help.

Have a good day.

Michel, fell free to come back any time you need help.

Just FYI, on 2 occasions I’ve been called on after use of AWC 2.0 Personal on XP Pro SP2. I’m struggling to remember exactly what happened so I can’t give much detail but I think on one machine some installed apps wouldn’t run and on the other, TSR programs (including Avast) were loaded at startup but only a few tray icons appeared. Didn’t really investigate why, just recovered from ‘Ghost’ image for one and ‘SystemRestore’ on the other.
I’ve nothing against AWC myself but I’ve become a little reluctant to use it.
