Erro message when loading up avast!

Hi,

I had problems (or thought there were problems) with the auto-updating of avast! so I uninstalled avast via Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and then re-installed it but mnow I get a message saying

Internet Explorer Script Error

Line: 227
Char: 26
Error: Object doesn’t support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Alwil%20Software\Avast4\English\Help\ChecklistSimple.chm::/checklist.htm

I get this message when I try to close the help box by selecting ‘do not show this message again’.
The help box appears when I start avast!

How do I stop this from happening? It never used to happen on until I re-installed the program. Have tried uninstalling, repairing etc but message always appears.

Thanks.
Michael Burton.

This is an old old problem.
Is your Internet Explorer, Windows and avast updated?
If you put the ‘Security’ level of IE to the default level, will this script error occur again?

You can manually change a setting: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=1647.msg10262#msg10262
In avast4.ini file, [Simple] section and value
ShowHelpCheckList=1

I have set the Internet Explorer settings to default level but the message still appears and I do not know why? Is there a fix for this which I can download?

The Windows Update site I suppose…
But did you try to manually change the option as I’ve wrote before?

The solution: go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /u hhctrl.ocx :stuck_out_tongue:
