The POP3 error message i’ve attached come together with two other error messages that are identical except that refers to SMTP and IMAP.
These 3 error messages appears all together each time i log in my system, after i’ve upgraded avast to 4.5 (home edition). I’ve started with 4.5.518 and now i’m using 4.5.523, with the same errors.
Apart from those error messages, Avast seems to work well.
Now i describe the environment where avast operate.
- Windows 2000 Professional SP3 italian version.
- Pentium II 366 MHz, 192 MB RAM.
- Sygate personal firewall.
Avast is configured to work only manually, on my request and so every provider is disabled (Standard shield, Network shield, Internet Mail). This is because of my limited hardware resource.
An important detail is that the account i normally use is member of user group (not power user or administrator). In fact if i log on with an administrator account, the errors don’t appear.
I’ve also tried to enable internet mail provider, reboot, login and then redisable it, but the errors reappeared.
All seems to work properly but these messages are boring.
