Ensure that your email program is closed before running Mail Protection Wizard.
Nowadays, the following [b]Internet Mail Clients[/b] are supported: MS Outlook (including Outlook 2003), MS Exchange, MS Outlook Express, Eudora, Pegasus Mail, Netscape Mail, Mozilla Mail, IncrediMail and The Bat!

Launch your mail program and let the program display the account settings.
I get the following error in Outlook Express 6:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘pop3.hetnet.nl’, Server: ‘127.0.0.1’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
When I run the mail protection wizard (and not running Outlook Express 6!) I get the following error (manually selection):
AVAST is not able to protect your incoming/outgoing mail (IMAP protocol) Error: 10047

MAIL SETTINGS
The server address for both POP and SMTP should be set to 127.0.0.1 with the POP server name set to:
username#pop.isp.com (use the actual username and ISP info) and… SMTP server name to username#smtp.isp.com
You can go into the Help file within the Avast Scanner and look up Manual configuration. It will take you through it step by step. It is not hard to do.
Check the avast help file for Setting up mail Protection. Switch of your email client and run the Mail Protection Wizard - Or you can set it up manually.

Nope, it does not work. I tried it all, but does not help. The error in my outlook express is still there. I tried the manually installation in the help file…
Does the OE account details in the account/s look like this?
Incomming mail (POP3) 127.0.0.1
Outgoing mail (SMTP) 127.0.0.1
Incoming Mail Server
Account name: yourusername#pop3.hetnet.nl
Password: *********
Remember password (ticked)
Outgoing Mail Server
My server requires authentication (usually ticked,
depending on ISP)
I am afraid I already searched as best I could Before asking here.
I can resolve the issue by turning the Ethernet in the BIOS ON. (with Ethernet ON there is no error message)
Turning the Ethernet OFF in the BIOS brings the error back.
Avast is set to 'Dialup" under connection.
Have also tried uninstalling whole app and downloading again.
Same result.
