I have been using Avast home for 4yrs never had a problem till now “Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.” I have tried everything in there forums and nothing works even manually removed everything by hand still no good none of the services will start.
Win xp pro sp3 any clues?

Did you already try to make a completely clean installation?
- Remove avast! via Add/Remove in the control panel.
- Run the avast! uninstall utility
- Download a new installation file and install avast! again with that one.
If that doesn’t work I would recommend to download and run Malwarebytes Antimalware and/or Superantispyware.

Update ran the Malwarebytes Antimalware it found a bunch more removed them restarted and avast now works thanks for the help:)
