Hello,

I keep getting the error 1396 when trying to distribute the client to one machine in our office and can’t figure out why or how to fix it. On a few other machines I would get Error 1203, all I had to do there was enable Printer and File Sharing thru the Windows Firewall. And on all the other machines everything worked like a charm. Any idea on how to fix this 1396 error?

This machine like all the others in our domain is Windows XP Pro SP2. We have a Win 2003 Server with Active Directory setup. I tried readding the computer to the domain but that didn’t work.

I’m not sure if it helps, but error 1396 means “Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect.”

I noticed that and have checked the name a few times. I’m using the domain admin’s account on all machines. It’s worked on all but this machine for some reason.

I finally got it to work although I’m still not sure why it didn’t work the first time. All I did was delete the computer with the problem from the “Computer Catalog” in the Admin console, then I readded it manually through the “Create Computer” option. Then I ran the deployment task on it with the same options as before and it worked fine.
