I’m getting the following error after saving and trying to open/extract the setup file:
Setup Selfextract:
An error 82 (00000052) has occured, Last performed operation was: extracting main exe
Any thoughts? I’ve tried downloading the program several times and from several different sites, rebooting, double checked that I don’t have any other antivirus programs installed, etc but I always get this error.

No luck, same exact problem when it tried to open it.

I also have malwarebytes and toolwiz care installed but I checked and neither process is running.
I recently uninstalled ad-aware free antivirus. I currently have no antivirus installed and that is why I’m trying to install Avast
And how did uninstall Adaware?
I uninstalled it through the uninstall utility in the start menu/all programs/ad-aware folder. Uninstall option was not available under control panel, “uninstall a program”. I rebooted several times since. I don’t see it listed as a program anymore under “uninstall a program” and there’s no longer a folder for it in start menu.
I have basically figured out that I cannot install anything right now. Any program with an .exe extension does not work. For example I tried to install AVG free and get the error, “can not extract” and “can not create temp folder archive”
Does this info help with getting this problem resolved?

I’m having the identical problem as in the opening post. Windows 7 Home x86. Any ideas before I bolt to the competition?

Do you have the TEMP folder set correctly? (and some free space on that drive?)
