I have been dealing with avast error codes for 4 days. I’ve researched and researched how to fix them. I have tried everything and anything someone would suggest with nothing working. I can even delete the program from my computer at this point. HELP please to fix this stupid program and get it working.
Hi newfiechick101,
Could you provide us with some more information, for those that may try and help?
What OS and avast version are you using?
What are the error codes you are experiencing?
What other security software are you using?
What have you tried so far?
Thanks,
Scott
I;m using version 6
ive tried fixing, updating, repairing, removing program from the control panel…
i’ve tried fixing in safe mode,
i;ve tried to disable the problem with the settings>troubleshooting, but it doesnt; safe my settings
ive tried reinstalling other versions, as well as other antiviruses, nothing works, and the other antiviruses wont completely download cause of this issue,
i;ve done scans, and there shows nothing wrong with the computer.
the errors are as follows:
failed to update the avast! service is not running - ive gone into computer>manage>services and have tried to start up the service - nothing
error code 1608:the dependency service or group failed to start
the aavm subsystem detected a RPC error
C:\program files\avastsoftware\avvast\setup\part-setup_ais-557.vpx
I;ve also tried to unistall utitlity from 4 other places off the net…
Have you tried uninstalling with the uninstall utility?
http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility
It may be necessary to do this in Safe Mode.
Then try installing avast again.
The RPC error used to be associated with previous antivirus remains in older versions, not sure if it still is.
yes i have tried to unistall the uninstall utility in safe mode…it didn’t work
the aavm subsystem detected a RPC errorCould you confirm that the RPC service is running
Nope, not matter what i do, the service will not run…i’ve tried starting it a good dozen times or more today alone!
In that case it is a system problem as opposed to avast

Tick “All” options.
Press “Scan”.
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
