I run the discovery task and it populates the computer catalog with my respective domains one of which is WORKGROUP. Later on I try to create a group called Work Area and instead it gets named Unnamed. If I try to create a group with same first letter as an already existing group it automatically gets named Unnamed.
Are you sure it’s the first letter?
I couldn’t simulate the problem…
Try creating a top level group in the computer catalog with the same first letter as an existing group. Then delete it. Then try to recreate it or any other name as long as the first letter is the same as the original existing group.
I think I found the problem!
It seems to only exhibit when you dismiss the configuration dialog by using keyboard (pressing Enter in this case).
If you close the dialog by mouse-clicking OK, everything’s working all right. At least that’s what my examination shows.
The problem is actually very interesting and is related to the way Windows handles messages in modeless dialogs (BTW have you ever noticed that the config dialogs are modeless - ie. you can jump in the tree without closing and reopening them?)
I hope this will be fixed asap.
Thanks again for your great help!

OK, here’s a fixed version: http://www2.asw.cz/~vlk/aswUInt.dll .
Just replace the file in the folder where the console is installed (shut the console first as otherwise the file would be locked).
Thanks

Yep that fixed the problem! Thanks for the quick turn around, it’s actually been annoying me since beta 1 I just hadn’t reported it. So when are is my status title going to change to Avast QA team? ;D
Cool.

– although maybe a bit :-[
You’re right, we could’ve done our homework better. :-\ :-\
Hey that’s what beta is for. You said it yourself it was a tricky one. Besides it is such a nice product working through the bugs is not a problem. Of course it really helps that your team has been so responsive.
Thanks. On the other hand, I have to say that your testing has been really very valuable for the whole project.
BTW have the report issues been resolved in RC-2? I think Pavel believes they should be.
Pavel sent me an email indicating that I haven’t had a chance to test it yet though. :-[ I am hoping to run some today and see what I get. By the way did the NT 4.0 Server comminucation fix make it into RC-2? I’d like to update my servers over the weekend to RC-2 and want to know ahead of time if I will have to install the patch on top of that.

Good. I’m anxious to hear the results…

Sure, the clients have been updated as well.
Cheers
