I’m setting up a new Dell laptop with Vista Ultimate x64 and and have just started getting Event ID in the Event Viewer. The text says:
The avast! iAVS4 Control Service service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.
I get duplicate messages for the Antivirus, Mail Scanner, and Web Scanner services just after start-up. I have not seen these before. How do I correct them? Even if it ends up being meaningless, I’d rather make them go away so real errors don’t get masked by a multitude of meaningless ones.
avast services need interact with the desktop.
In x32 systems, Administrative Tools > Services > right click the avast services and choose Properties.
Then on the proper tab of settings check if avast could interact (default behavior).
The Vista is a clean install. The Dell x64 systems shipping a couple of months ago (at least) came unable to pass SFC /scannow without errors on startup so I did a reinstall.
All of the service are marked as needing to be interactive, but apparently the system is set to not allow that.
I tried another reboot and now the error does not show up. Vista reconfigured itself? I’ll see if the error stays away.
