i wanted to do a Boot time scan and it keep telling me that a “Launching Record Error” and it doesnt continue with the scan. What is it and how do i fix it? ???
Launching Record Error? Who displayed this message, exactly? And at which moment? At the time you were trying to schedule the boot-time scan, or while it was running…?
Also, what is your OS, avast version etc…?
Some more details would be appreciated…
Thanks
Vlk
This error is shown when the system is booting before windows pro loads and just before Avast is suppose start the boot time defrag.
The error is shown then it continues on into windows xp. The version is Avast pro 4.6
I hope this helps
Could you post the contents of the file \data\log\aswBoot.log (I hope I’m quoting the file name correctly).
Thanks
Vlk
And where is a newbie like myself suppose to find this file?
Assuming you installed avast to the default folder, this is the path in windows explorer.
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\aswBoot.log
Thanks david

Hmm, this looks OK… and you’re saying the scan doesn’t even start?
Does it at least say
avast! antivirus
…
etc. … - I mean the heading.
Thanks
Vlk
