error in shutdown

I have avast 4.6.652 installed on xp sp 2 and during shutdown i recieve a message ashServ.exe encountered an error trying to write data to location 0000000 just before the computer shuts off, I have reinstalled avast, problem came back and even used the repair, which works, till next time I use machine.
I don’t wish to have to repair avast before each shutdown.

btw: there is nothing useful in the eventlog other than messages of the vps updates

You can see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=11945.0 for a solution

Shame there’s no fix for this, I tried the Dep Solution, but it does not work so… I guess maybe I should look elsewhere for a AV solution

edit:05-16-05: Gave up the uninstall - reinstall avast! antivirus everyday routine, decided to hedge my bets with Nod32 by ESET.
works good, and is lighter on the system resources.

I’m using Win98SE and radomly on shutdown now getting a BSOD with the 000000000 string too. Hmmmmm…
