I’m not sure what is your problem… I mean, I’ve searched the board and found nothing very close related to yours.
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
You must be connected to the internet while repairing.
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?
I’ve understood you were ok after that :-[
Unless VojTech come here to help you, I can only ask you more info about your system: operational system, firewall, email program, etc.
Its an AMD XP1800 with 512 mg ram. Running winXP with SP2. Using IE 6.0.2900.2180.xp_sp2. Using winXP firewall…I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice. Still the same. Do you know what the error code 10170 means?
Thanks Irv
No I have’nt removed anything. I am going to check futher into that though. I will check into the mail ports being open. Will advise tomorrow of what I find.
Which spam killer application do you use?
Does it change the pop3/smtp server settings?
The most strange thing is that Googling for 10107 we give nothing useful…
Strange, uncommon error… :
If it were something that would have changed the pop and smtp settings then OE, IE would not be working, right? Im using adware and spyware blaster, which I have been using for quite a while.
Could the last update have caused it?
Irv
Arqueturus, did you search the board for 10022 ?
Please, asking for help give us more details of your system: operational system and updates, firewall, avast version, other security programs, etc. etc.
I just finished fixing the problem on mine. The machine is used by my daughter, and after grilling her for half an hour she told me that friday she had downloaded an update from MS update. When I started to look around I found that it had installed the wrong print driver. I used system restore to restore to last thursday evening. It started back up and then immediately wanted to update. It updated the virus files, and then came back and told me that there was a program update available. I did that, and the system is working perfectly. So, I am not sure what happened, wether it was the driver or something else and by using system restore it repaired it.
