Yes, I have seen the same thing too.
What appears to be different is I get an UAC request to allow _wsc.proxy.exe to run so I’ve checked the certificate both times it appeared and allowed it to run as it says it is from avast, and the cert appears to be from avast and is valid.
Request appeared out of the blue so could’ve been related to what you’ve seen and an emupdate perhaps.
Further elaboration in order:
Fifth .png in post to follow.
Fifth .png attached is a webshield test of a real-time block. This proves avast is actually running as it should be; nothing is amiss with this installation except for this case of Windows erroneous reporting.
I know this is a follow-up report on an existing installation and not of a new install as bob3160 has originally posted in this thread.
However, the executable appears to be the same in both cases, and in this case, an option is given to allow the proxy.exe to run.
I was running in a standard limited account at the time of this incident. I denied permission to run this file as a matter of course. Any feedback as to what this file is and why it would ask to run would be appreciated.
Now all we need is someone from Avast to actually comment on this.
(It’s late Friday or early Sat in prague.)
Agreed.
It is weekend mode for Avast unfortunately. Someone needs to notify a team member I think, and I think review or action by a team member before Monday here or there would work better.
I’ve already reported this to a Moderator and will report it to the developers on Mon. (hope I remember. )
Thanks Bob. ;D
Reported to a developer since I’m already working with him on a problem with the Behavior Shield not staying on.
