Hello,
I have contacted the technical support but they haven’t gotten back to me… I wrote them ages ago.
Whenever I make a scan I get the message that scan completed with errors. It pops up a sign that say Access or Action and then the number 5. I am bad at explaining but it’s because I don’t have English as mother language.
It happens everytime. I never find any viruses and I have the update on automatic so it’s always up to date.
Also… I delete files that returns on its own… Avast never finds any viruses but why do the files return?
I just tried to uninstall and reinstall the program. Same problem… I tried to reinstall XP but the problem returns.
When the message comes up is it at the end of the scan. Does it say error scanning XXXXX file archive corrupt or something similar. If so then it is normal and just means that Avast cannot scan the file because it is corrupt or password protected. It is not a problem because if the archive file is run it will be scanned by the standard shield. If you could give an example of the warning in your own language if need be we can give you a better answer. But you should not need to reinstall or repair. Welcome to the forum.
EDIT If the files are being replaced are they part of spybot or adaware ?
As an aside I have done full search of the forum for an error code listing . Is there such an animal Is there anway of finding out? Could we make a sticky topic of error codes. I throw it open to the floor
Edit With a slightly different search I found this thread but unfortunately it doesn’t have esmnh error code on it…
I did a forum search for “scan completed with errors” (with quotes) and it returned only three hits including yours so this doesn’t appear to be a frequent issue, this is one of the hits at the relevant post (or a good start), http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8662.msg71398#msg71398
Don’t see how it can be limited account since I am the only one who has access to this computer and I am using the Admin account all the time.
I do ALWAYS include the System Volume Information folder in the search since I can’t delete that one and I know there is some kind of system files in it. Viruses LOVES system files

Maybe if I stop include that folder…?
That could be an interim solution although that could cause problems if you need to restore. Mayhap if you delete all but the latest restore before you stop scanning it at least you will have a clean copy. Also ensure that your VRDB is current…
