Error message when installing Avast!

Ok guys not sure of this problem…

Installing avast for a girlfriend on her daughters PC

PIII 800mghz
385 (I think) megs of Ram
XP HE No SP2 ( having trouble also installing it)
browser is IE6 I have the log file saved but Ill post this lil blub after reviewing it

  • remove all temporary files form that system
  • download Avast again
  • install it

Does this work?

nope … Have tried it 3x and still same error during setup.

edit* Also getting this error message

Avast.setup unable to locate component

this application has failed to start because aswCmnOS.dll was not found, Reinstalling the Application may fix the problem.

Iv also used the Avast removal tool to complately uninstall Avast before reinstalling.

What about the system TEMP folder. Isn’t it messed up?

Wow fnally bale to re teckle this problem
After formatting boot from Disk

And Xp being the only Thing Iv installed

the EXACT same error

WTF???

Anyone ???

What hardware do you have there?
Standard KB etc?
Is av scanning in the bios disabled?
