Hello, I am seeking some help. When I attempt to install Avast Home edition on my pc, which is using Vista, I receive an error message stating that there are not enough user rights to continue the installation. I have no idea what this means. I have used the program with XP, and never had a problem. I do have IOLO anti-virus currently installed, could that be in conflict? I didn’t want to uninstall IOLO before I got Avast installed, because I only have access to a dial-up connection and it would take forever to update the IOLO if avast still did not work. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
Having two anti-virus programs installed at the same time is never a good thing.
You should uninstall IOLO first (wow, first time I’ve heard of that one…) by using the built-in Add/Remove programs in Windows.
If there are any problems, you can use this page as a reference to remove anything left behind: http://www.iolo.com/customercare/kbarticle.aspx?id=KBA-01805
As for installing Avast, you should right-click the avast setup file, and click, “Run as Administrator” in order to install properly.
Tell us how it goes!
