This is everything and I have attached a picture of the error window. I am using Windows 98SE, as for avast the current version along with the two before it. currently it’s version 4.0.168, active skin version 4.2.7.3. I am an A+ Certified technician and have been working with computers, specifically PC’s, for 24 years now. And this has me stumped. I even tried re-installing shockwave since the skins appear to be shockwave formats.
I get an error message when starting the program " Unable to load skin" that is not exact, but it flashes by so fast and doesnt show in the log even for dr. watson. I am running a PII at 266mhz with 160mb memory, 6gb harddrive with 2.3Gb free space. This error occurs if I install with the skins or without.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Dear sir / Dear madam!
- Select START → RUN…
- In the row write this command:
a) If you have Windows NT, 2000 or XP:
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE ACTSKIN4.OCX
b) If you have Windows 95, 98 or Millenium:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\REGSVR32.EXE ACTSKIN4.OCX
- Press OK (or Enter).
- Message saying that the file was successfully registered should
appear.
Now should all work properly.

There was probably problem with active skin library activation in your system. You have to try activate actskin4.ocx file again.
Use command line:
C:\Windows\system\regsvr32.exe “C:\windows\system\actskin4.ocx”
“C:\Windows\system” = directory with system files.
Path to this directory depends on used system.
For example: C:\Win98\system, or C:\Win2000\system32
(Command line can be used by “Start” menu and option “Run…”.)
I tried both and neither one worked, I got the exact same error message appears.
