Error message with full scan

I was doing a full scan this evening and when I came in to check on it’s progress there was a failry long list of files with the same message to the side of all of them. Message said:

“Error: archive is pass word protected”. It didn’t do this during the scanned when I downloaded it.

Nothing to worry about.

avast can’t scan files that are password protected, it doesn’t know the password.
There are many legitimate reasons why a file was password protected.
By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Also, the packaging of the file could have some error, or use a non-standard pattern…

Clean, Quarantine, or Delete?

i would guess that would be extremely annoying for those that are in need of sending/reciveing lots of password proteted files if it should warn you every time

Just curious why it does this on my computer but noton my wife’s? To my knowledge I never passworded any files myself.

It doesn’t mean that you put a password on it.
E.g.: The latest updates of Flash Player are all pw-protected…

As long as it doesn’t affect anything or the ability of Avast to perform correctly then I will not worry about it.

It won’t.

Thanks again y’all for the great info.

You’re welcome…!

maybe there are no password protected files on it ?

you dont have to....if you have more then one security program installed then you will probably have some as it is a way of protecting own files
