error message

Hi,

I often get an error message saying: "the licence key for this product has been temporarily disabled.
Time: " and the the amount of time (ranges from 2seconds to 3 minutes)

I don’t really see a pattern in when the errors arrive; sometimes it’s just out of the blue; and I get them practically every time I login.

any thoughts?

Are you using the Home version (free) or the Trial one?
Did you use Trial version in the past and then uninstalled it?

Are your system clock (date and time) correct?

I’m using the free home version

but the datetime thing made me think… My system time is set to synchronise itself regularly with a Microsoft timeserver… Maybe this error happens every time the synchronisation happens.

I’ve turned off the sync and I’ll check if the error pops up again.

thanks for the very swift reply

No, I think it won’t hurt automatically checking and setting the time.
On contrary, I thought your system has a weird date/time changed by malware.
What about Trial x Home version questions?

The error messages still came after I changed the setting…

what do yo mean trial x home?

What do you use?

  1. Trial version (60 days period).
  2. Professional version (paid).
  3. Home version (free).

It looks like something is changing the system time from time to time… but of course, there could be a lot of other reasons. Do Alwil guys know anything about that message ?

Thanks Sasha.
This let us to:

  1. CMOS battery failure. Changing it will solve.
  2. Virus infection.
