After a scan, I received the following error message regarding 9 files: Error: the file cannot be accessed by the system (1920)
I would appreciate any help on this.

This is essentially a windows file system error number that is being displayed, “The file can not be accessed by the system.”
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Many programs (usually security based ones) password protect their files for legitimate reasons, there are others (and avast doesn’t know the password or have any way of using it even if it did know it). And more recently windows update laying down the files to update to windows 10.
By examining 1) the file name, 2) reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 3) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.
If you can give some examples of those file names, the locations and reason given why it can’t be scanned might help us further ?
Thanks for the reply. Upon further research I determined it IS due to Windows 10. Even though I haven’t downloaded it, there are files relating to it (since they’re offering me the free “upgrade”) which evidently can’t be scanned. It seems that it will correct if/when I d/l Windows 10. Thanks again.
You’re welcome.
Yes MS is ‘doing you a favour’ (I think not) by downloading the files so you can upgrade when you are ready.
Watch out for popup messages about win10 update, showing they have a sense of humour, 'Update to windows 10 ‘Now’ or ‘Later Today.’
