Change ODBC to XML in avast4.ini or use RejZor’s AEC to do so.
This has been explained in many threads already. Please use the search option on this board next time before asking. Also please do not post in someone elses thread if you do not have the exact same problem. That is confusing.
Like Eddy said, you may try to open the \data\avast4.ini file and in the [Common] section, change the item Database=ODBC to Database=XML. This could prevent the Microsoft Jet drivers from accessing the database… does it have any (positive) effect?
Even, you could try to repair your installation:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
You must be connected to the internet while repairing .
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?
I fixed my problem changing the avast4.ini file to XML as you told me to do it.
Now i have other problem i can’t turn on the “avast on access” i received a message that say “the requested resident task was not found, the operation could not be completed”.
Which provider (resident task) was not found?
Which one is ‘disable’ or not installed?
If you try to restart the providers, what do you get?
Last tentative:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Change function in the popup window
See if the providers are correctly added.
