I have the free version of Avast. I just upgraded from Avast 4 to Avast 5 and now I get the following message every time I open Microsoft Outlook “The add-in “C:\Program Files\Alwil\Software\Avast4\ashOutxt.dll” could not be installed or loaded…You may be out of memory, out of system resources, or missing a .dll file.”
I assume I need a new .dll file, or Outlook is still looking for Avast4 .dll files? How can I fix this easily and quickly? Would it be better to uninstall avast and reinstall it?
First, try a repair of avast. You did not tell us the OS of your computer. If it is XP, the following can be followed. Others will be similar.
To do a repair of avast :
Control panel > Add/remove programs > click once on avast to select it > click on Change/Remove > scroll down the left pane and click on repair > click OK> follow directions
