Ran system scan, got 16 (!) viruses found that could not be moved to chest, repaired, or deleted. They are all either win32:trojen-gen (other), win32:adware-gen(adw) or BV:malware-gen.
Files are all C:\Deckard\system\scanner\backup\DOCUME~1\CONNIE~\1\LOCALS~1\Temp\BIT40.tmp\ac8zt2\edi.exe, or …\install.bat, or …\msmdev.dll, or instead of backup, its main.…\uninstaller.exe
In all cases when I scan individual lines & try to move, delete, etc, I get “the operation is not supported for this type of archive”
Help! How do I (do I need to?) get this junk off my computer. I’m not a newbie, but I’m also not super great at this stuff either, so please be gentle
Thanks in advance for any & all help offered.
oh! I’m on Windows XP 2002 service pack 3 & it’s automatically updated. Avast was up to date as of last night when I started all this.
OK, maybe I’m more of a newbie than I thought. I’m trying to use some suggestions offered in this forum & I don’t know how to "clear all TEMP-folders (via drive CleanUp…)"nor how to “Empty Temp.Ent.Files. via IE…)” nor can I find Java Plugin cache under Control Panel I need to know where to look & find the this stuff–exactly what to click on when I find it, etc. :-[ thanks, again.
Run a boottime scan, or scan in safe mode.
Welcome to the forums, connieshuler1.
Do you have Deckards System scanner program on your computer?
It seems to me these are archive files in that program. It is a legitimate program used when there are problems on a computer.
