Error: page fault in non paged area

Hello.

Since I do the last avast-program-update on my laptop (Core 3…) I have two problems.

Starting the laptop the avast-aystray-icon has a red sign. I have to restart the avast-service and than it works. A new installation did not solve that problem. :frowning:

Since this time I have great number of crashes with the error: page_fault_in_non_paged_area. >:(
I did not have this error before.

Any ideas?

TIA Gerald Fey

What is your Operating System ?
What version did you have before update ?

Have you added any other security software recently, e.g. other realtime scanning software, anti-spyware, etc. ?

Hello and sorry for the missimg information.

I use Windows XP SP2 with all updates (automatic update) and all avast-updates (also automatc updates every hour, now version 4.7 home edition, build aug2006(4.7.871), VPS 0634-1) since months ago.

The other programms you ask are SpyBlaster, SpyBot Search and Destroy
and Adaware Personal. No other anti-virus-programm…

It’s still difficult to guess…
Do you see anything relevant into Windows Events? (Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events).

In the antivirus area of the eventlogs I see an error:
AAVM initialization error. Aavmstart avworkInitialized failed, 0000A413.

First time the error occure ist the 13 August 2006, followed by the information
Function setifaceUpdatePackages() has faild Return code is 0x20000004, dwRes is 20000004.

At the system area of the eventlogs is see only warnings from the dhcp funktions.

I thought you’ll have something here…
Into Start Menu > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Initialization > Save event in the log system
It must be a minidump event on the system area as far I could expect…

Hello and thank you.

The minidump-function was switched off in my system.
I turn it on and after the next crash i’ll be back…

Greets

I HAVE JUST INSTALLED LATEST AVAST HOME ON NEW COMPUTER.
I HAVE THE SAME CRASHES (6 IN ONE AFTERNOON)

BLUE SCREEN
AAVMKER4.SYS
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I AM USING XP PRO AND AVAST ONLY (NO OTHER SPYWARE)

IS THERE A WAY TO FIX THAT ?

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE

Fredblan, welcome. The protocol avoid CAPS… you’re not yealling ;D

aavmker4.sys is an avast driver as you can search the board for more info.
