Hi All,

I’ve just run a scan of a network drive using Avast Server. Several items were picked up, some as false positives (such as psexec from SysInternals). I tried to restore these files to their original location, but get the following error via email:

Error in aswChestC: chestRestoreFile Error 3.

And in the following one in the restore dialog box:

FileID: 0000000041 Program cannot copy the following file: M:\Scripts\FixNetworkTimingOnBoot\ (Original filename: psexec.exe )
—>Description: The system cannot find the path specified

Has anyone else come across this? Can avast restore to network shares? Which credentials will avast use to do the restore (logged in user or local system)?

Thanks,
Mark

The restore action is performed inside the avast! Antivirus service, i.e. with Local System account rights, which seems to be the reason why it failed. We will try to fix it, currently the ‘extract’ command should work instead - is is performed inside the chest viewer process.

Thanks for the update.

Just letting you know that the Avast services my on server are using a domain account, not the usual local system account. I’ve added permissions to the remote folder for the account, but the problem remains.

I tried the extract method and that worked a treat.

Cheers,
Mark
