Error:The request is not supported(50)

i just formatted my laptop and i did a full system scan to stock my persistent cache…the problem is that it found several rootkits in the windows folder and i when i try to move them to chest is says "error:the request is not supported(50 ) and i dont want to delete it in case its a false alarm…what should i do?

Twin, incorrect.

Do as he follows. Please run them in this list and in that order. Adwcleaner/MBAM/OTL/AswMBR.

Reason being. Adwcleaner and MBAM will delete stuff OTL would find. Makes the logs smaller.

Also, George, what version of Avast! are you using? If it’s 2014, I’d say it’s a FP.

After you’re done, I’ll notify Pondus to send someone to assist you in your fight against malware.

For helper, it’s all the same how you post the logs. I know it, cause I am helper myself :stuck_out_tongue:

Are the detected files in the winsxs folder ? If so they are windows updates and will not re-appear after boot

yes they are in that folder and the time i ran the scan the windows were installing updates!!!maybe thats what caused it…anyway i’m running a MBAM scan now to see if anything is ok and then i will rescan with avast and i will let you know…oh and i’m using avast free 8.0.1497 and windows 7 64-bit…also another thing i dont remember where the logs are saved to attach them… :-\

No problem, that is one anomaly with Avast it gets very pernickety if it scans whilst windows is updating

yes they are in that folder!!!maybe it was caused because windows were installing updates during avast’s scan…anyway i’m running a scan with avast and the mbam just for sure and i will let you know…oh and i have avast 8.0.1497 with windows 7 64-bit

I have the same problem, but the error message persists even after rebooting. It seems like it’s a false alarm, but is there any way to get rid of the error message?

Can you make your own thread? Then run and post the logs Twin asked for in his post.
