Error updating to RC2-A

When trying to run update from settings/control panel/adnm/update components. I get an error
“There was an error updating the product configuration” after it starts to download some of the files for updating. This is an update from RC-2. There error comes after it downloads jollyroger.vpu.stamp . Also is it possible to update the product without a reboot? Both ADNM and the network client?

There are several threads in the ADNM section about installation/update problems. HERE is one of them. Does this apply to you?

Also provide more information please, like:
What OS are you using?
Are there any errors in Avast’s log file(s)?
If so, what are the exact errors?

Thanks, the original thread did apply to me (actually I was the author) however in this case it doesn’t . I’m updating from RC-2 to RC-2a on a w2k sp3 server and there are no errors in the usual spots event log, error.log info.log etc. Just what was reported on the screen as mentioned above. I assumed that the update option in the control panel was a valid update path for 2a from 2.

Ah, didn’t saw you was the author of that thread. Anyway, I can’t help you with this problem other than I already did. I’m sure you will hear from Vlk or one of the others soon. Good luck with solving the problem.

Same things happens to me!! w2k server sp3 from rc2 to rc2a…

As always, please post the tail of the file \setup\setup.log.
The part after the last empty line.

Thanks
Vlk

the part after the last empty line? for what i can see from the log return status is “the package is broken”

Yes, I meant the part after the last blank line (blank line delimits individual update attempts). It should be like 100-200 lines long or so.

Let’s see which package is broken…

Thanks.

cool, i do understand now…

here it is!

OK, it is because one of the packages has been removed from the installation and the updater somehow cannot handle this situation gracefully.

We’ll fix this but in the meantime, you can update to RC-2a using the setup exe file.

Download the RC-2a setup from here: http://download1.avast.com/files/beta/adnm-no-msde.zip and run it on the target. Update option will be offered.

BTW the release version of AMS/console will not require a reboot after update. This is not the case for the clients though - as it contains device drivers and other components that cannot be simply unloaded from the system.

Thanks
Vlk
