Hi! I’m a new user to Avast Home edition and I have noticed that I keep getting an error upon booting the computer. Some HPS00M error? It will go away if I uninstall Avast (which I don’t want to do). What can I do to fix this problem?
Which is your operational system?
Do you have an HP printer? Can you uninstall it and see what you get with avast! installed?
Do you have any other antivirus in your system?
Ok, my operating system is Windows ME, the error is more like HPSOM has caused an error in OOPXX.DLL; The HP printer removed is still not the problem as I still have the error.
I’ve Googled OOPXX.DLL and found nothing… Are you sure?
HPSOM is not an easy hint for me… Will this help? http://www.d-a-l.com/help/archive/index.php/t-72.html
Googling you can find something and try to redirect us to a better way… I can’t imagine what is happening as your information is not enough :-[
Sorry, here is the specific error…I was writing earlier messages without writing down the error.
HPOSm ans caused an error in oleaut32.dll, windows will now close the program. Then it’s followed by kernel32.dll error.
Well, I checked out the link mentioned above. Do I really need to download the software? When I boot my computer, I don’t have the printer on…should I have it on?
I’m sure that if you search the avast! board for the word oleaut32.dll you’ll find the answer.
I’m not that sure on how you can solve but seems the dll was not correct registered.
Do you use MS Office? Which version?
Did you unistall any program recently?
Are your Windows ME fully updated?
tech has given you some good advice. It also may be that your
oleaut32.dll files are too old for your system and you may have to somehow renew them. As mentioned do a search on this and see what you can find.
