Error while exporting configuration

I’ve just regged here so “hello” to all. :wink:

My problem is that (for whatever reason) I can’t export my avast settings. (avast 7.0.1474)
I’ve searched the forum found the following thread http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=112674.0
but no solution. I see exactly the same error message as the author of the other thread: “Error while exporting configurations. Access Denied”.

Import an old file is working ok.
The old exportet file is from (avast 7.0.1451) so I’ve must be able to export with that version
but with current (avast 7.0.1474) it’s not possible.

I’ve reinstalled avast, used the uninstall tool in safe mode and searched/cleanded the registry for old entries -
but without success.

My OS is german Win 7 x64, using the german version of avast.

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??

Try GUI>settings>maintenance>settings back-up :slight_smile:

I got that too. It was just a thought. :wink:
We do need more information. It would be nice to know what other security software they are using. :slight_smile:

  • avast free 7.0.1474
  • Win 7 x64 SP1 and all other updates installed
  • no other security software installed (apart from Win 7 firewall)

I can’t duplicate this but this came to mind. Guesswork here.

Are you using an administrator account?

Is the location where you are trying to save the config file write protected?

Try saving to a different location.

Is User Account Control on? Maybe there is a popup message that is not showing.

Yeah I’m using an admin account and the location where I want to save is not
write protected. And of course I have tried many different locations to save.

UAC is on.

Does it work when you turn UAC off…??

No not … either.

Repair avast! and try again:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Asyn thx for trying to help … but I’ve done all this already and nothing worked.
Repair, clean install, uninstall searching the registry for leftovers install and repair again - nothing … everytime the same error
this is why I came here and report that.

Hello

I had this problem with the latest version of AVAST 2014.9.0.2011 and I had to go into the properties of the file AvastUI.exe (installation folder) and check with privileges to perform export via the interface.

While I did not do it on the previous version!

Mystery than this version that me cuse a lot of problems.
