error's 42148, 42137, 212,

Hello :), I have Avast free Antivirus on my Macbook pro. & Did a full system scan. this is what came up after scan.

Files with warnings in archive

Error 42148 XAR archive is corrupted
Error 42137 CPIO archive is corrupted
Error 212 Unknown error 212
Error 42148 XAR archive is corrupted

When I tried to find them I could not?, they all start of with /Private/var/folders/so/s…

If anyone can help to let me know if they are a problem, and how can I find them to put them in the trash. Thanx’s

I got the exact same thing, same system, Snow Leopard, and have the same question…

What should we do with this if anything?

I also got /applications/iDVD.app/Contents/Resources/205_Family_thmb.tif Error 42120 ARJ archive is corrupted

Any suggestions?

Hi Falcon38

Re the iDVD I think.

In FINDER I looked in the iDVD and was able to find

/applications/iDVD.app/Contents/Resources/205_Family_thmb.tif Error 42120 ARJ archive is corrupted.

and put it in the trash.

But the files with warnings in archive are still there.

Error 42148 XAR archive is corrupted
Error 42137 CPIO archive is corrupted
Error 212 Unknown error 212
Error 42148 XAR archive is corrupted

When I tried to find them to put them in the trash I could not?, they all start of with /Private/var/folders/so/s…

If anyone can help that would be appreciated, I am no computer whizz :frowning:

Hallo,
not all archives must be really corrupted - it might be even an archive-like file, which, when trying to take it as a some hand-crafted/malformed archive (that’s what avast tries to do), just failed to extract properly. So, it’s just WARNING (= something that prevented intended scanning of the item, has nothing to do with infection or infection suspicion). Detected infections are always shown as INFECTIONS.
