In Italian the 3 text strings have an absurd meaning (see the translation in English below):
1 - controlla i floppy disks nel drive quando vengono estratti = check the floppy disks in the drive when they are extracted.
2 - controlla i CD quando vengono estratti = check the CDs when they are extracted.
3 - controlla altri supporti removibili quando vengono estratti = check other removable supports when they are extracted.
You can see how this is impossible: all the storage units can be scanned BEFORE the extraction NOT when they are out of the slot. Surely you want to mean “check the supports AT THE SAME MOMENT WHEN they are INSERTED in the drive”… isn’t it?
My suggestions:
1 - controlla i floppy disks quando vengono inseriti.
2 - controlla i CD quando vengono inseriti.
3 - controlla altri tipi di supporti removibili quando vengono inseriti.
The Italian (and some other) translations were not updated yet - I didn’t receive the translation packages until now, so the new or modified texts are in English.
Regarding the first post (the “CD check”) - I suggest to switch to English and check the real meaning. It actually should mean something like “Check CD drives before logging off” (or shutting down the computer), etc.

Maybe I don’t understand well… I think is useless to check cd, floppy etcetera before logging off the pc. Is more useful to check them before they run. Please, say me if I don’t understand this options.
No, it is not a simple INI-like file. We use a special software to handle the translations (you have to install it to open and modify the “translation bundle”). On the other hand, the tool is quite powerful and comfortable (you have various checking there, preview of the dialogs, spellchecker, …).
I would be happy to send you the translation bundle - containing whatever language you handle - but I won’t be at work until Thursday, so I won’t be able to do it before that.
As for those 3 options - they are rather obsolete now. They were useful in the time of boot-viruses that spread when people forgot a diskette in drive and rebooted their computer. So, if you turn on this option, avast! won’t let you restart your computer if you have a diskette (or CD, or ZIP) in drive. It will warn you and ask you to remove it. I.e. there’s no scanning for viruses involved here - it’s just a check whether there’s any media in the corresponding drive when logging off / shutting down.

If you are so gentle to send me your translation tool, I’ll be very happy… maybe I can translate Avast! also in my dialect (the slang of my city, Roma) and in Latin (!)… for personal use, obviously… eheheh… ;D… I will be happy to translate Avast in Italian. Please say me if you need my work.
Well, why couldn’t we have a Latin version? ;D But I should warn you - translating the whole thing is quite a lot of work, probably not worth for a dialect.
Anyway, you are an experienced avast! user, so I’m sure you can fix some problems in the translation. (From the list of items, it’s often not clear to the translator what the particular item means or where it is used).
As I said, however, it won’t be before Thursday…

Yes, Tech… the Help files are the hardest work… huge files!!! I imagine the ancient medieval monks when they copied and translated the hundreds of Bible versions from earlier greek, latin and other lost languages… eheheh…
