Errors of avast in Event viewer

Can anyone help me with this error. This error start logged on June 30 or July 01, 2012 when emergency update task has been found in hidden scheduled tasks in control panel. Then errors keep logged every time I restart or turn on the computer. I’ve done uninstall and re-installing a fresh copy of avast. But the error still exist. Note: The error gone after uninstalling avast but when i installed it again, error came back in event viewer. Here is the error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026
Date: 01/Jul/2012
Time: 11:00:49 PM
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
aswSnx

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

The emergency update task is not related to the aswSnx.sys (sandbox driver), so it the emergency update task is unlikely to be the issue.

Why the aswSnx driver failed to load is the mystery.

ry a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.

Sorry i forgot to tell earlier that i already done repair the installation before end up uninstalling and re-installing. And when i repaired it, the error still logged in event viewer.

Whilst the windows event viewer logs can help I find they also bring more grief than help. If for any reason a driver can’t load (it doesn’t say why) and if that is just a very slow load and it subsequently loads there is no record of it either.

Is the autosandbox working (as that would require the sandbox driver) ?

Normally when a driver fails to load there will be other attempts to load it, they to if they fail should also show in the event viewer fairly soon after the original one. Are there multiple entries for this error close together in the event viewer ?

Hmmm how will i know if autosandbox is working or not? In avast interface autosandbox settings, all input there got a check. And in the event viewer log i don’t see any other error, this is the only one.

What operating system is that?

Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 2002 Service Pack 2

Well XP SP2 is no longer supported:

Support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 ends on July 13, 2010
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifean31

so does it mean avast as well no longer support old OS?

Yes and no… It will support XP but it must be to SP3 standard
