Hi,
Recently I found my desktop’s C drive is very low on disk space. After searching I found that 2 files (ETL extension) in Avast folder took almost 31.2 gb space. I just want to know can I delete those ETL files? Is those safe to delete?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Do you have debug log enabled/ticked?
(In Avast Antivirus, go to Menu> Settings > General> Troubleshooting > Logs (at the bottom) > “Enable debug logging”
I have had this problem for several weeks and I have seen others having the same problem. The files get up to 500 GB . I delete them but they reappear about a week later. I have tried completely reinstalling Avast. Surely there is something wrong with the software, irrespective of whether debug log is ticked or unticked. Windows + X, Powershell as Admin, wpr -cancel seems to stop the process and get rid of the files (very slowly) but effect does not seem to be permanent.
I am not so sure that this is [only] a Windows problem as is suggested elsewhere . Why do the files appear under Avast ? Does Avast need to adjust to be compatible? Windows does not have Advanced/ Basic settings [for sending diagnostic data to Microsoft] under Privacy only Basic and Optional. I have the Basic setting. There is a setting on how OFTEN to send diagnostic data to Microsoft which is by default set to Automatic. Windows + X, Powershell as Admin, wpr - cancel does not seem to shop the problem permanently. In Avast settings I have Debug/ log unchecked under Settings/ Troubleshooting. The problem keeps reoccurring. Should I try recording the problem ? Or turn the bug log on ?
