Hi there, clean Windows 7 Pro x64 installation here with no previous antivirus installed and Windows Defender disabled, but every restart I find these Event ID 1530 errors, I am running avast v2015.10.2.2218:

Did you do a repair of avast via add/remove? If you have done that and it didn’t solve it. Uninstall avast via add/remove and follow the instructions. After that download and run the avast uninstaller utility and it will ask you that this tool will run your computer in safe mode automatically, click yes and follow the instructions. Finally, install a fresh copy of avast and after the installation has been done it will do a quick start up scan. Once done, restart your computer manually and register your copy of avast.

I don’t see a need to do this as I said I just formatted yesterday and this is a fresh installation with the latest avast via the web downloader / installer.

Sometimes installation may go wrong! Anyways, did you install Service Pack 1 has mentioned by Eddy? Make sure you install Service Pack 1 and all updates from Microsoft Update? After you have installed SP1 do a clean install of Avast as I mentioned in my first post.

Yes off-course it’s a boxed Windows 7 Pro SP1 and I have all the latest updates.

Anyway a new version was just released let me see how this goes. Did you guys check your event log to see if you have the same error by the way?

I never go into my event log as it tells me nothing worthwhile

Snap, I keep my nose out of there, for the most part they are an irrelevance. Even the so called errors as I can’t recall one ever resulting in a Hard Error displayed to the screen. Those are the only ones that I investigate and even then I don’t investigate the first error displayed. If they become more frequent then it is worth the time spent in investigation to resolve the error so it is no longer displayed to the screen.

Well I have a sickness and I keep checking it for anything out of the norm to try and solve it rather than keep them errors in the background.

I am happy to confirm that after my Avast AV auto updated to the newest version, I no longer get this Event ID 1530 error so they must have fixed their previously buggy AV

I’m not simply hiding the errors, they are only listed in the event viewer, not displayed to the screen. I only start looking when it is a worthwhile exercise, e.g. same error repeatedly displayed to the screen. Then it is worth investigating.

I have just taken a peek, and several errors related to dropbox crashing which does produce an error to the screen, but not a thing related to avast going back to 20/05/2015. I contacted the dropbox forum but the only responses I got were from others experiencing the same problem.

Life really is to short to spend it in the event viewer.
