avast! 4.8 Home, Build Dec2008 (4.8.1296) running on windows vista home premium 64, 8GB ram.

I am troubleshooting an error with a game and I have noted that at the time of the error I see a handful of errors, one of them is the following (occurs 4 times, once for each core):

Log Name: Security
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing
Date: 12/21/2008 11:11:38 PM
Event ID: 5038
Task Category: System Integrity
Level: Information
Keywords: Audit Failure
User: N/A
Computer: Glamdring
Description:
Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.

File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\drivers\aswSP.sys

Since Avast! doesn’t appear to be misbehavenig I am guessing this is a red herring, but thought I would ask anyway.

Welcome to the forums, ajc13.

Have you run chkdsk to se if there is a possible problem with your hard drive?

Well met,

Yes, full disk (and memory) checks have been executed.

Installed Avast! on about 8/17/08, The above event started 8/27/08. I believe avast has been fully updated at least once. Along with at least two other full disk checks.
