The message says to call 855-260-3658 to get instructions to get the removal procedure. I haven’t done it. I can’t find an ‘eventsystem3.com’ anywhere. What’s going on? Running Win10 with Avast Premier.
I called the number in the on-screen message. The computer was locked (at least the browser -Chrome- would not respond). The person on the phone (Indian accent??) refused to give me a company name, just saying they were a certified MS support company or provider. When I insisted on a company name, he hung up. He did not mention eventsystem3. I never asked him what the instructions were, so I didn’t find out what the scam was.
I eventually logged the user out, and signed back in, ran an Avast scan, and found no issue. Seems to be running normally now, but I’m wary. The user says he was looking at a typical teaser ad like ‘See what these people will look like in 20 years’ or some such thing. Definitely not a porn site, but I hope it didn’t do any damage.
If you want a check, follow the instructions.
