Ever growing avast folder!

wass up guys…
i am a very happy avast user and i really appreciate the good work that keeps on happening …i have one question though…as all users…
everytime i perform a program upgrade the avast folder size just keeps on increasing…i wonder why???
just today i upgraded to the new version 4.6.652…and i noticed that my avast folder size has gone up to 58.6mb…
can someone tell me if there are files that i can delete or is this normal?
hope to get some response…
thanks
regards,
thefalls

This is to a certain extent normal and would also depend on your personal system usage, 58.6MB in today’s huge HDDs is a minimal hit in hdd space (mine is currently 61.8MB), I have had avast for almost a year since version 4.1 with many updates.

The VRDB file to help you repair files that it monitors can get very big, mine is 11.8MB I have heard of larger, so this takes a large chunk of your overall size. You could have stuff in the Chest (back-up of some system files, detected viruses you sent their, etc.) that again takes up space.

So all in all probably normal, I wouldn’t recommend deleting anything, it could stop avast working properly and compromise your system.

60 megs, give or take, seems to be typical – that’s about what it runs on my system too.

hi,
relating to that size matter i was talking about a few days ago…after rebooting my comp after the update process i found that the avast folder cameback to the same size as it was before…50mb.
i guess that there is also a clean up process that takes place after a program update…
thanks…
